The core team works closely on all events which ensures that clients benefit from full team support and knowledge. They are supported by an experienced administration, finance and IT team.




Judy Lane

A trained barrister, Judy Lane set up JL ICS in 1998 on leaving the International Bar Association where, as Conference Director, she ran the IBA 's extensive conference and seminar programme for fifteen years. She is still responsible, in a consultancy capacity, for their major annual conferences.

Judy has developed a range of new clients, applying the same core principle in every case: personal contact and responsibility. Despite having built a dedicated team that has worked together since the early 90s, Judy remains the primary link on every event. The enormous range of events, venues, suppliers and nationalities has given Judy vast experience of different working practices, negotiation and long-term planning.

However, every event is unique and experience can only count for so much: Judy's hallmark is her personal touch and the confidence this instills in her clients.




Dawn O'Hanrahan

Dawn's career started in the conference department of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. Two years later in 1981, she joined the International Bar Association as a Conference Administrator, personally responsible for her own annual events list. Dawn has genuinely spent all her working life in conference and event management and has experience in every element, in many countries, and is well-aware of the subtleties of the ‘global market'. Dawn's know-how enables clients to benefit from the extra touches that make events stand out from their competitors.  Dawn worked with Judy for many years at the IBA and then joined JL ICS in 1999, where her chief responsibilities are for the working programmes, venue and speaker liaison.





Marc Pursals

Marc Pursals studied law in his hometown Barcelona, but was later drawn towards the new conference and events industry that developed after the Olympics in 1992. Working for leading Spanish agencies Viajes Iberia Congresos and Ultramar Event Management, Marc has organised and promoted events for the medical, pharmaceutical and scientific sectors. In 1995, he first worked with JL ICS as the local DMC in Spain and has collaborated with us extensively since then. Marc has a considerable range of experience in the operational/logistical aspects of conference management and, essentially, having managed client accounts as well, is able to work within tight budgets and meet client expectations. Marc joined JL ICS officially in January 2010.




Annie Dunster

Annie Dunster graduated from King's College London with an Honours degree in French and spent the next two years in the sales administration team of a major French aluminium conglomerate. In 1994, after spending a year travelling solo across the globe, Annie joined the International Bar Association where she rose through the ranks to be appointed IBA Deputy Executive Director, a position she held for 5 years. Her role required providing direction and guidance to many of the senior principal leaders of the Association.

Annie's principal accountabilities were defining the working programme for the annual conference, strategy development and implementation for the activities for the IBA's business lawyer members and budget preparation and control. Her work involved liaison at a senior level with key international figures.

In 2007, Annie joined JL ICS where her prime responsibility is for sponsorship, marketing and exhibitions although her experience covers the whole spectrum of event management.




Sue Percy

Sue Percy has spent almost her entire working life in the conference industry so there isn't much in her area of expertise that she doesn't know! Since joining JL ICS in 2002, Sue has taken over responsibility for all conference registrations and hotel bookings for many of the conferences. She is also the front person in the 'JL ICS Office' and, as such, is the first point of contact for many delegates. She enjoys getting to know our delegates and the friendly and personal service she offers is much appreciated.

 





Esther Meneses

Esther Meneses graduated in Tourism Management & Marketing in Barcelona and her first job was as the Medal Ceremonies Coordinator at the 1992 Olympics. Thereafter, she joined the sales team at the Ritz Carlton, Barcelona where she gained a valuable insight into venue management, capacities, delegate rates and hotel practices. Esther has worked in almost every aspect of international congress management, organizing and supporting events all around the world. After a long relationship with JL ICS, Esther also joined the team in January 2010.

         



Gill Pilkington

Born and educated in Edinburgh, Gill started her international association career at the International Bar association (IBA) in 1981, ultimately holding the position of Director of Section Administration.

Upon moving to Newcastle upon Tyne with her family, Gill was delighted to team up with former colleagues, working with Judy Lane from 2000-2007 with responsibility primarily for speaker management, sponsorship and exhibition sales.

After an enjoyable six year post at Newcastle Gateshead Convention Bureau where, working with local academics, clinicians and business professionals, she was charged with researching and attracting association conferences to the region, Gill returned to JL ICS in 2013 to continue her passion for working directly for associations.

         



Stefanie Blankestijn

Stefanie joined JL ICS in 2015 where she has been able to combine her legal background, her experience in project management and her talent for organising events.

She graduated in both private and criminal law and worked as a lawyer specialised in Employment law in The Netherlands. During her work as a lawyer she organised several seminars, networking and conference events.

After moving to the UK in 2005, Stefanie qualified as a solicitor. She took on roles in marketing and partnership management leading major marketing campaigns across multiple professional partnership organisations. At JL ICS Stefanie has to date been working on the programme and speaker management side.
